The newest of the Franklin playgrounds is the Dacey Community Field playground which was designed with children with special needs in mind. The playground area is 77' X 92', making it the largest ADA accessible playground in the state of Massachusetts. Gametime representative Travis Armes and Director of Recreation Ryan Jette worked back and forth to find a design that met the needs of the age and ability of the kids that will use this playground. Department of Public Works staff worked hard to spread the playground surfacing (engineered wood fiber), lay the 8" timbers for containment of the material, install an HP van accessible parking area at the bottom of the hill, and pave a walkway right to the ramp of the playground.
The entire playground is ramped from 0 to 8 feet high. 9 slides, 3 rock climbing walls, overhead components that challenge 5-12 year olds, clover climber, DNA climber, sky wheels, and a fireman pole make this playground the best in Franklin. Please take care of the playground and deposit trash into proper receptacles.
